Animal Rehabilitation Centre & Jessica
These are rehabilitation centres for wild animals in distress that are often very rare. The animals are treated and set free but if recovery needs a longer time, releasing them back into their natural environment is not viable and therefore stay in the centre. Usually you can see lions, wild dogs, cheetahs, vultures … just to name a few.
It was February 2000 when one of the worst floods ever struck this area. Close to home, Tonie found a newborn hippo and rather casually began to feed her. The years passed, but Jessica has not moved on and away from her rescuer so you can approach her in the same way you would with a pet even if hippos are among the most dangerous animals in Africa!
Duration: about 6-7 hours.
